A late equalizer from substitute Danny Musovski rescued the Seattle Sounders as they battled back for a 1-1 draw against San Diego FC on Saturday night at Lumen Field.

Marcus Ingvartsen opened the scoring for San Diego (3-5-4, 13 points) in the 18th minute, but the visitors have now gone nine matches without a win (0-5-4). In the final minute of stoppage time, Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Thomas made a diving save on a shot from Anders Dreyer, and Ingvartsen put the rebound over the crossbar from six yards out.

The Sounders (6-1-3, 21 points) have extended their MLS unbeaten streak to eight matches (5-0-3) and remain undefeated in their last 21 consecutive games across all competitions at Lumen Field. Their last home loss came against reigning UEFA Champions Cup winners Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup on June 23 last year.

Musovski’s breakthrough came after a flurry of opportunities. He hit the right post in the 78th minute, and two minutes later, San Diego goalkeeper Duran Ferree made a solid kick save to deny him again. Jesus Ferreira’s follow-up header was then deflected out of bounds by Luca Bombino.

Albert Rusnak’s resulting corner kick was flicked toward goal by Alex Roldan, and Musovski muscled past defender Christopher McVey to reach the ball, firing a left-footed shot from three yards out inside the right post for his first goal of the season.

Seattle controlled the opening 15 minutes, but San Diego struck against the run of play in the 18th minute. Anibal Godoy exchanged passes with Oscar Verhoeven near the right sideline before finding Onni Valakari in the midfield, about 25 yards from goal. Valakari then played a quick diagonal ball into Ingvartsen just inside the penalty area. Ingvartsen dribbled toward the top right of the six-yard box and lifted a shot over the onrushing Thomas.

Thomas made a spectacular diving save to his right post off a header from Amahl Pellegrino in the 22nd minute, keeping the deficit at one goal.

The Sounders thought they had equalized in the 31st minute when Ferreira played a through ball down the middle, sending Jordan Morris on a breakaway. Morris beat Ferree, but the linesman flagged him for offside, a decision confirmed by video review.

Morris, who is tied with Raul Ruidiaz for the franchise record with 72 career MLS goals, had another chance in the 42nd minute, but his header from the middle of the six-yard box sailed over the crossbar.
