Jarrett Allen: ‘Time Is Now’ Message Fueled Cavaliers’ Historic 24-0 Playoff Run

Jarrett Allen revealed that the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Game 4 victory over the Detroit Pistons came down to something straightforward yet vital: energy. After tying the second-round series with a 112-103 win on Monday night, the center credited the third quarter as the turning point.

“Right. Our energy. I think you all saw it in the third quarter,” Allen said. “We went on an incredible run, but it all started on the defensive end.”

That run was historic. Donovan Mitchell poured in 39 points in the second half, and the Cavaliers unleashed a 24-0 surge to take control after trailing 56-52 at halftime. Allen noted that the message in the locker room was direct. “It was one of those moments when we told each other, ‘The time is now. It’s time to do it now.'”

The big man emphasized that the response came from the little things the team did together. “Our communication, our effort, our one mores,” Allen said. “That made a huge difference.”

While Mitchell’s second-half explosion grabbed headlines, Allen made it clear that Cleveland’s defense set the stage. “He gave us everything on offense, and even on defense he was getting over every screen,” Allen said. “He was crashing the boards and giving every ounce of energy he had.”

Allen also praised Evan Mobley for his all-around defensive performance. Mobley finished with 17 points, five blocks, and three steals. “Incredible,” Allen said. “He keeps impressing every night on the boards, scoring, blocking shots, and getting steals.”

He added that Mobley’s impact goes beyond the stat sheet. “He does so many things that don’t show up in the box score, and every single night he’s incredible out there.”

The Cavaliers’ interior defense played a major role in slowing Detroit’s offense once Cleveland turned up the pressure. Allen explained the key to defending Cade Cunningham: “Just try to get in his way. Make him rethink every pass and make sure there’s someone there to bump him on every drive. Someone there to contest him.”

Allen also credited the home crowd at Rocket Arena, which grew louder as the third quarter unfolded. “Incredible,” he said. “It felt like every time we scored, the noise went up another level, and then another.”

He noted that this energy will be crucial as the series shifts to Detroit for Game 5 on Wednesday. “Winning two games gives us a lot of momentum,” Allen said. “But we have to learn how to win on the road.”

Allen closed by highlighting the team’s growing chemistry. “James has been incredible. Donovan has been incredible,” he said. “Every game, they learn something new about each other.”
