Flamengo secured a 1-0 victory over Grêmio on Sunday night (10th) in Porto Alegre, in the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. The winning goal came from Carrascal at 23 minutes of the second half.
With this result, Flamengo reached 30 points, four fewer than league leaders Palmeiras, who drew with Remo on the same day. Leonardo Jardim’s side also has one game in hand compared to the alviverde team.
For Grêmio, the defeat pushed them into the relegation zone of the Brasileirão. The Tricolor remain on 17 points, one less than Corinthians, who sit in 16th place, the first spot outside the drop zone.
Upcoming Fixtures
Flamengo return to action on Thursday (14th) against Vitória in the fifth round of the Copa do Brasil. In the first leg in Salvador, the Rio side won 2-1.
Grêmio also have a Copa do Brasil match on Thursday, visiting Confiança in Aracaju after winning the first leg 2-0.
