The 91st Kansai Open, a tournament marking its 100th anniversary this year, kicks off on May 14 at the prestigious Ibaraki Country Club in Osaka Prefecture.

Organized by the Kansai Golf Union (KGU), which was established in 1926, the event returns to the historic course that hosted the inaugural championship nearly a century ago. The first winner was Kakuji Fukui.

After navigating disruptions caused by earthquakes and pandemics over the decades, the tournament now reaches its 91st edition at its birthplace. As the oldest open golf competition in Japan, this celebratory milestone promises an emotional and memorable week.

Last year, Kota Kaneko claimed a tearful first tour victory at the Kansai Open, later leading the money race to become the season’s top earner. Fans eagerly anticipate another dramatic chapter in 2026.

The tournament runs from May 14 to 17.
